Natural Path Nutrition Inc. celebrated another great year of internships for college students. This past May 13th and 14th, our very own Senior Project Manager Drake Materre received his Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois along with our interns Melanie Harrington and Mubaraka Kukoyi. Drake Materre also gave the graduate student keynote speech at the 45th Annual Black Congratulatory Celebration sponsored by the Bruce D Nesbitt African American Cultural Center (BNAACC) at the University of Illinois.
Drake Materre, Melanie Harrington and Mubaraka Kuykoyi all completed their Applied Practicum Experience (APE ) and their Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) with Natural Path Nutrition Inc. to fulfill their graduation requirements. Drake Materre's APE and ILE projects focused on advocacy for community schools rooted in emancipatory education as a means to combat violence and increase access to resources for community members, and the creation of NPN's political education series 'Health is a Constant Struggle.' Melanie Harrington created a diaper and toiletries drive for expecting mothers and developed a resource page on mental health. Mubaraka created a needs assessment for the Garden Hills community in Champaign and created presentations on the needs of the community to present in community meetings.
We are extremely proud to be a part of their academic journeys! Here are a few photos!
