Lauren Materre, MSHC is an award winning pharmaceutical and medical sales representative as well as a nutrition and health educator. Lauren possesses 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical sales industry and a passion for helping healthcare professionals meet their patient and practice needs. Lauren’s sales experience includes various products and medical devices indicated for various disease states in the areas of: allergy and immunology, pulmonology; sleep apnea, diabetes, and depression as well as nutritional needs such as nutraceuticals, disposable medical supplies, and Medical Nutrition Therapy. She also has a passion for the impact nutrition has on health and wellness and its importance in an individual’s diet. Lauren, a vegan since 2000, believes nutrition education is a natural path towards optimal health and wellness.
Lauren’s sales experience inspired her to start and serve as Executive Director of Natural Path Nutrition Inc. (NPN), a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to nutrition, health and wellness education for students and seniors, particularly those in underserved areas, to improve individual and community health outcomes. Natural Path Nutrition Inc. has spearheaded, implemented, and executed academic programs and nutrition education in private institutions and at community health and wellness venues and events. Additionally, Natural Path Nutrition is an approved practicum host at five major universities, providing internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of health promotion; non-profit management; public health; and individual and community nutrition to meet graduation requirements. Lauren is also the Marketing Director for a home healthcare company. Lauren’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communications from Columbia College, a Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive Nutrition from Huntington College of Health Sciences, and a Master of Science in Health Communication from Northwestern University. Her academic research focuses on health disparities; socio-determinants of health; and barriers to healthcare engagement in the African American community.
Lauren Materre and her organization has been featured in The Chicago Tribune regarding the need for quick comfort food for vegans on the south side of Chicago; Comcast Television’s segment on non-profit organizations; People to People; the Philip Jackson Radio Show; Gospel 1570 AM; and Senior Talk with Clara Hubbard. Lauren Materre is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
